I’ve been seeing a lot of people in the Les Mis fandom saying that they just can’t comprehend why Marius is truly in love with Cosette. So here’s a short list
She’s a sharp-dressed young lady with beautiful eyes
She’s confident and passionate
She has a lovely singing voice and plays piano pretty well
She’s a genuinely good person who does charity work
She’s dominant in all the ways he’s submissive (she even joked to her father that he could replace her maid)
Despite that last one she still lets him pretend he’s dom so he can keep up his masculine self-image
She’s the first girl he ever loved
She loves him, too.
